Popular football magazine FourFourTwo have recently named West Bromwich Albion's Harvey Barnes as the best player in the Championship so far this season.

The Leicester City loanee has been influential for the Baggies this season, scoring five teams and assisting twice, and has subsequently been ranked number one in the magazine's "10 best players in the Championship so far this season".

The start to the Championship campaign has been enthralling as ever, with many players stepping up to the frame and putting in a string of mesmeric individual performances.

The likes of Derby's Mason Mount, who appears sixth on the magazine's list, has recently been called up to Gareth Southgate's England squad, so some fans may not be happy with the magazine's ranking.

Is Harvey Barnes the best player in the Championship so far? We discuss...

George Harbey

There's no getting away from the fact that Barnes has been exceptional in what looks to be a magnificent West Brom side this season.

But for his individual performances, I just can't look past Bradley Dack.

He has scored eight goals and produced five assists in what is a, with respect, bang average Championship team in Blackburn Rovers, and has been the standout performer for me.

Jay Taylor

He’s been in the division all of three months, how can he be the best player on it?

Granted, Harvey Barnes has untold ability and untapped potential, but to say he is the definitive best in the Championship is a stretch.

Especially after only a quarter of the season.

Gary Hutchinson

Not for me - Barnes is excellent, but the best in the Championship? That is a huge call.

Mason Mount might be up there and I'd put a case forward for Bradley Dack too.

Then there's John McGinn who has been wonderful, and even Dwight Gayle has a shout, it's too close to call.

Jacob Potter

Barnes certainly is one of the brightest talents we have seen in the Championship this season but is he the best in the league so far?

I think not.

You've got the likes of Dwight Gayle and Bradley Dack all performing better than Barnes at the moment in my opinion but if he can prove himself on a regular basis for the rest of the season, then who's to say he can't become the best player in the Championship!
