Leeds midfielder Ronaldo Vieira has been called up to the England U21s for the Toulon tournament.

This will be his first time with the Under-21 squad because he has only been previously involved with the Under-20s in the England set-up.

However, this is his second Toulon tournament, so he will be hoping that he can help the team to consecutive victories.

He joined Leeds back in 2015 and has slowly risen his way through the ranks since with his debut in 2016. Last season saw him affected by fitness issues as well as inconsistent form, but he appears to be part of Heckingbottom's plans because he made eight of his 28 league appearances during his tenure.

Leeds certainly need someone to fill the deep midfield role because Eunan O'Kane has struggled this season and it is a weak area for the side currently.

An impressive tournament as well as a strong start to the season could see Vieira make one of those two positions his own, which would be an excellent long-term solution for Leeds.

This is the tweet from the official Leeds account congratulating the youngster:

The reaction from Leeds fans was mixed with some congratulating him while others were worried about how it would affect his early season due to the limited rest:
