Queens Park Rangers advanced to the second round of the League Cup last night by securing a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over fellow Championship side Bristol City.

After falling behind to a Famara Diedhiou strike, the R's equalised courtesy of a goal from Nahki Wells before taking the lead at Loftus Road through Ilias Chair.

However, the Hoops were unable to hold onto their advantage as goals either side of half-time from Jack Hunt and Liam Walsh allowed the visitors to regain control of the tie.

Yet with time running out, Mark Warburton's side were awarded a penalty which was duly converted by Ryan Manning.

With the game going to penalties after a 3-3 draw in regular time, the R's managed to secure a 5-4 victory with Liam Kelly producing the all-important save to send his side into the second round of the League Cup.

The Hoops will now face Portsmouth on August 27th in what will be a repeat of February's FA Cup fourth-round clash which saw the Championship side win 2-0 at Loftus Road.

Having reached the third round in the League Cup last season, the R's will be confident that they can replicate this feat by defeating Kenny Jackett's side.

After the club announced on Twitter that they will be hosting Pompey, plenty of QPR fans reacted to the news.

Here are some of the best responses from the club's supporters.

The R's will be aiming to make it two wins in a matter of days over the Robins when they head to Ashton Gate to face their Championship rivals.
