West Bromwich Albion are interested in a summer transfer window move for John Swift, as per the Express and Star.

The 26-year-old has been one of the best creative midfielders in the Championship for some years now and is edging towards the end of his contract at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

The Baggies have glaringly lacked creativity from central areas this season, and Swift feels like the perfect type of player to come in and change that next term.

Steve Bruce has altered his formation fairly frequently since stepping into the dugout at The Hawthorns and could build his plans for next season around a player of Swift's quality.

Alex Mowatt, Jayson Molumby and Jake Livermore offer a lot out of possession and can contribute in the final third, but having a player like Swift operating between them and the frontline would make the Baggies a lot tougher to defend against.

The aim will be promotion once again next season, with supporters enjoying Bruce's style of play more than they were that of Valerien Ismael, and bringing in a cultured attack-minded like Swift will go some way to appeasing the fans.

Midlands Football Writer Josh Holland delivered his verdict on the potential signing of Swift in the summer.

When asked whether it would be a good addition, he said: "If Diangana goes in the summer and they replace him with John Swift, I think that'd be amazing business.

"You look at John Swift at Reading, they've struggled all season, yes they've stayed up, but you could argue they've stayed up because of Derby's minus 21 points, but he's been pretty good, 11 goals, 13 assists, for a struggling Championship side is quite impressive."
