‘That would be an upgrade’ – Many Nottingham Forest fans react to potential swoop for 24-year-old

Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing Shamrock Rovers midfielder Jack Byrne.
The Reds are likely to strengthen their squad in January, as they look to move away from the relegation zone and avoid being embroiled in a relegation battle.
According to Protathlima, Forest, Preston North End, Stoke City and APOEL Nicosia are interested in signing Jack Byrne, who has been in excellent form for Shamrock Rovers this term.
Byrne – who has previously played in the EFL for Blackburn, Wigan and Oldham – has scored 10 goals in 25 appearances this season, chipping in with eight assists from midfield.
The 24-year-old has made four appearances for the Republic of Ireland national side, too, and is out of contract next December.
Forest have lacked any real creativity from midfield since Joao Carvalho and Tiago Silva left the club in the summer for UD Almeria and Olympiacos respectively.
Miguel Guerrero has been tried there, as has Luke Freeman who is currently out injured due to a groin problem.
Here, we take a look at Forest fans’ reactions to the potential addition of Jack Byrne in January…
Probable be another John McGinn situation where we could have got an excellent player but just miss out.

Preston seem to do fairly alright with cheap signings

Best play maker and attacking midfielder in the league of Ireland 100% he went off the rails when released from Man City he had a few clubs which didn’t work out so came back to Dublin to get his career back on track which he has so with the CH connection could be a good move 🤷

Can he run a bit fast AND pass a ball to player in his own team? That would be an upgrade.

Likes a run in the box, and knows where the net is from long-range, looks similar to Mcginn with his hight and style.
Certainly a style we could do with, but i imagine that its an easy link, the same with Stoke and Apoel

Seem very creative but you have to wonder about how much he tracks back… doubt he does much of that so wouldn’t be right fit for our master plan 🧐

Hungry players with something to prove are definitely what we should target. Mobility and ability to play through a press also vital.
