Brentford put in a fine display to beat big spending Aston Villa last night in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Bees hammered Steve Bruce’s side 3-0, thanks to a brace from striker Lasse Vibe and a strike from Nico Yennaris.

The victory lifted Brentford above last night’s opponents into 13^th, and leaves Dean Smith’s side ten-points outside the play-offs.

It had been a mixed day for the Bees, with prolific striker Scott Hogan joining Villa in a high profile transfer and Sergi Canos joining Brentford from Norwich.

The victory was the club's first ever over Villa, who are now in danger of not making the top-six at the end of the season.

Brentford head to top of the table Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon, where they will be looking to cause another upset and move into the top-half of the Championship.
