Nathan Jones has done a mediocre job at Stoke, who are resigned to a bottom half finish, which is a huge underachievement.

With a summer window ahead of him, with no interruptions such as a World Cup or Euros, Jones will have a few months to work on his squad to get them up to scratch.

Hopefully for him, the Potters come back stronger next season.

Will he get it right in Staffordshire, though?

We debate…

Lewis Steele

"If they give him time, yes.

"I’m not sure how much time they will give him in this current climate, but I think Jones will get it right eventually.

"They also need to give him a bit of money in the summer. That squad needs overhauling.

"If ‘getting it right’ means winning the league next season - no. But if it means making a real push and getting into the top six - yes I can see that."

Gary Hutchinson

"I can.

"Jones is a good manager who likes football played the right way.

"He picked up a lousy hand when he joined, but given a summer of organising, he’ll be fine."

Louie Chandler

"Yes, if he is given the time.

"Jones has drilled it home repeatedly since arriving that it will be a slow process and you just hope the board have taken note.

"But a slow start next season and you could see him getting sacked."
