Sheffield United have confirmed that defender Chris Basham has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2021.

The former Blackpool man has been a key figure for Chris Wilder this season, starring on the right-side of a three-man defence.

His performances have been crucial in helping the Blades to third in the Championship ahead of Friday night's Steel City Derby at Bramall Lane.

And, Basham has been rewarded for that form, with the club announcing this afternoon that he had put pen-to-paper on a new two-and-a-half year deal.

The 30-year-old is currently in his fifth season with the Yorkshire club, during which time the club have gone from League One to competing for promotion to the Premier League.

Therefore, it's fair to say he is appreciated by supporters of the Blades and here's how some reacted on Twitter to news of his extended deal...
