Leeds United have had their fair share of signings in recent years that have struggled to adjust to life at Elland Road.

They come none better than Vurnon Anita, who arrived at the club from Newcastle on a three-year-deal in the summer of 2017.

Plenty of Leeds United fans were pleased to see the defensive midfielder arrive at the club.

There were high hopes for Anita when he first arrived at Elland Road, but he struggled to perform to a high enough standard for the Whites.

He made a total of 45 appearances for the Yorkshire based side but struggled to make a notable impact in his time with the club.

Anita was one of the players loaned out shortly after Marcelo Bielsa arrived with the club though and it seems unlikely that he has much of a future at Leeds.

He is currently on loan with Dutch side, Willem II, but has been restricted to just nine league starts which will be hugely frustrating for the 29-year-old.

Since moving to Leeds his career certainly seems to have come somewhat to a standstill.

Many Leeds United supporters are likely to have forgotten that Anita is still contracted to the club, and it's easy to see why, as he's rarely featured.

With his contract due to expire at the end of next season, Anita could be set for an early exit in the summer, especially if Leeds are to win promotion.

Marcelo Bielsa is likely to be clearing out the deadwood in the Leeds side if they return to the Premier League and Anita could be the first man to be heading for the exit door at Elland Road.
