Ipswich fans have been reacting on Twitter to the sacking of Mick McCarthy at Cypriot outfit APOEL.

Having taken a 14-month break from football following his departure from the Republic of Ireland national team, the former Ipswich Town boss returned to the dugout at the beginning of November when he was appointed as manager of the 28-times Cypriot champions.

However, McCarthy lasted less than two months in Nicosia after APOEL confirmed the sacking of the 61-year-old earlier on Wednesday morning.

What year was Ipswich Town founded?

McCarthy managed to win just two of his eight matches in charge, and leaves APOEL sitting 13th in the standings, 20 points behind leaders Apollon Limassol – with his final game a 2-0 defeat to Doxa Katokopias on Tuesday, their fourth loss on the bounce.

It means that McCarthy has overseen just 18 matches combined across his last two managerial jobs since leaving Portman Road in April 2018, and has already been mentioned as a possible replacement for Tony Pulis at Sheffield Wednesday.
And here, we’ve been looking at how the Ipswich faithful have reacted on Twitter to McCarthy’s departure:
