Today marks the day on which Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth was appointed manager seven years ago, making him the second longest serving manager in the EFL behind Morecambe's Jim Bentley.

Ainsworth was appointed caretaker-manager while still a player at Wycombe, replacing the outgoing Gary Waddock. Ainsworth was appointed as permanent manager of the Chairboys on 8th November 2012 and in his first two seasons at Wycombe, steered them away from relegation danger.

In 2014-2015, Wycombe lost in the League Two Playoff final to Southend United on penalties, and won the League Two Manager of the Year award, and Ainsworth consolidated Wycombe as a mid-table side in 2015-2016 and 2016-2017.

In 2017-2018, Wycombe earned promotion to League One after finishing in the League Two automatic promotion places, and Ainsworth extended his contract that summer to stay at the Chairboys for another three seasons.

In 2018-2019, Ainsworth guided Wycombe to 17th place, finishing three points above the relegation zone, and currently this season has taken Wycombe to their highest ever league finish in the football pyramid.

Over the past seven years, Ainsworth has managed 375 games for Wycombe, winning 154, drawing 98 and losing 134. Ainsworth has staked his claim as being one of Wycombe's most successful managers, and is loved by all the fans at Wycombe.
