Defender Josh Earl has returned to parent club Preston North End following Bolton Wanderers’ decision not to extend his loan spell.
The 21-year-old made eleven appearances for the Trotters since joining the club over the summer but has failed in securing a longer stay at the University of Bolton Stadium.
Despite missing nine games through an ankle injury at the start of the season, it appeared that Earl did impress the Bolton faithful during his time at the club.
After returning from injury the defender featured in eight of Bolton’s following 10 fixtures including their 4-3 defeat to Burton Albion on New Year’s Day.
Thanks to everyone at Bolton Wanderers. Ever since I joined the fans have been fantastic and I’ve enjoyed my time at the club. What went on before no club deserves, and I wish everyone associated with Bolton every success for the future 👊🏼
