A number of Derby County supporters have been venting their frustrations over the Rams’ decision to allow Chris Martin to leave the club and sign for Championship rivals Bristol City, after the forward’s recent impact.

Martin managed to register his first goal in the Championship for the Robins in their 1-0 win against rivals Cardiff City in Friday, which means the 32-year-old has now been involved in five goals in 11 league appearances since he made the switch to Ashton Gate in the summer (Sofascore).

That means that Martin has contributed to as many goals by himself for Bristol city than Derby have managed to score in the Championship so far this campaign. Phillip Cocu had been hoping to keep hold of the forward but he was unable to convince him to sign a new deal with the Rams, per BBC Sport.

The 32-year-old’s all-around game is helping the Robins pick up results on a much more consistent basis than Derby. Martin has managed to average one shot, 1.2 key passes per game and created three big chances (Sofascore) for the Robins so far this term, which is the kind of ability that Cocu’s side are lacking from their strikers.
