Middlesbrough have struggled this season, and after a loss away to Cardiff at the weekend, more misery has been piled on the club.

Jonathan Woodgate was appointed as Tony Pulis' successor in the summer, getting fans excited about a Boro fan being in charge of the team.

Woodgate, with his arrival, brought an end to the less than favourable brand of football that the club played under Tony Pulis. However, Woodgate has struggled to stamp his style on the team as he would have liked.

The Championship this season has seen a number of young British managers given chances as head coaches/managers in the Football League. So far, Woodgate is the one who has struggled the most out of all of them.

A less than inspiring start to the season doesn't mean that Boro fans are calling for Woodgate to be given the sack - far from it - but the football being played is becoming a greater concern.

Should the players be more accountable? The Boro squad has remained largely unchanged from the squad that Pulis had last season. Woodgate surely deserves time, this being his first job in management.

With both of Middlesbrough's wins coming at home they may have to rely on their home form this season, but it doesn't look like Middlesbrough are going to set the world alight this season and fans have been talking on social media about their less than impressive performances of late...
