Nottingham Forest defender Tendayi Darikwa has taken to social media to express his thoughts, after it was reported that the club plan to ban a supporter for life for alleged racist abuse.

If recent reports are to be believed, Forest plan to enforce a lifetime ban on a supporter, after a video emerged on social media of a fan directing racist abuse towards a steward at Kenilworth Road.

The alleged incident occurred during the Reds' 2-1 win at Luton Town in the Championship just over a week ago. The video emerged on social media at the weekend, with Darikwa and his Forest teammate Joe Lolley reacting on Twitter.

According to a report from Nottinghamshire Live this afternoon, Forest are aware of the video and have identified the individual responsible.

The club are looking to enforce a lifetime ban with immediate effect and have also reported the incident to the police.

Darikwa took to social media again this afternoon to react to the update and gave this thoughts on the situation with another message on Twitter.

Darikwa is yet to play for Forest this season after suffering a ruptured ACL on the eve of the new campaign, but it is still thought to be some time before he is able to return to action.

The Verdict

This sort of thing is never nice to see and this is absolutely the right approach from Nottingham Forest.

Racist abuse has no place in football and enforcing a lifetime ban is the correct course of action.

Darikwa obviously feels very strongly about the matter and as he says, it's good to see that the club are taking this so seriously and that this sort of behaviour won't be tolerated.
