Stoke City will have to pay £15m to sign Andre Gray this summer, as Gary Rowett continues to look to strengthen his attacking options at the bet365 Stadium.
Rowett has only been at Stoke a matter of weeks, but has already signed Benik Afobe and is eyeing another striker ahead of the Sky Bet Championship season.
Both Dwight Gayle and Gray have been linked with Stoke, with the Daily Mail reporting that if Stoke want to sign Gray, they will be looking at a price of £15m.
The report claims that Watford will entertain offers of around £15m for the 26-year-old, who has only been with the club for 12 months.
Gray has bagged five goals in 31 Premier League appearances for Watford, with the striker enduring a tough start to life with the Hornets.
Stoke are keen to take the striker back to the Championship, where between 2014 and 2016 he was prolific during spells with Brentford and Burnley.
The 2014/15 campaign saw Gray score 18 goals for Brentford, which earned him a move to Burnley.
The 26-year-old then bagged 25 goals during the 2015/16 campaign, spearheading Burnley’s promotion to the Premier League.
Gray is a good striker, who might not be having a huge impact in the Premier League, but would undoubtedly be a success in the Championship.
That’s what Stoke will be weighing up before they make their move for the striker, especially at the £15m asking price.
Rowett will be well aware that bringing Gray on board will give Stoke a great chance of securing promotion.
£15m could be a tempting fee to pay for Rowett and Stoke, particularly with promotion a potential reward.
