Daniel Ayala continues to be linked with a move to Leeds United, with reports last night confirming he’s on his way out of Middlesbrough and has played his last game for the Teessiders.

Leeds are pushing for promotion to the Premier League this season but their defensive options could be depleted heading into the 2020/21 season, with Ben White set to return to Brighton and Hove Albion and Gaetano Berardi out of contract in the summer.

According to Football Insider, talks have been held with Ayala, 29, over a move to Elland Road.

And, further reports from the North East last night confirmed that Ayala will indeed be on his way out of Boro in the summer and has played his last game for Jonathan Woodgate’s side.

The 29-year-old will not feature in the remaining nine games of the season as he allows his contract to run down ahead of a fresh start elsewhere in 2020/21.

As the news about reported target Ayala spilled onto the Leeds Twitter feeds, there was a strong reaction from the club’s supporters, with many not keen on seeing the centre-back arrive in the summer.
