The Verdict

Bishop was destined for big things earlier in his career when he burst onto the scene in the Championship as a fresh-faced 18-year-old, but obviously injuries blighted that growth and it's a massive case of what could have been for his career.

The midfielder still has a bit of a creative spark but not the one he used to have, and despite being a regular last season for Ipswich he didn't do enough to impress Paul Cook as he was happy to let him depart to a potential promotion rival.

It's likely that the fee to take Bishop to the Imps isn't as significant as the one that saw Andre Dozzell join QPR, so it's not a case of the club cashing in on him but it's more that he wasn't wanted - Bishop will be gutted that it's ended in this fashion however he can look forward to fresh beginnings at Sincil Bank.
