Charlton Athletic can make it four wins on the bounce in Sky Bet League One this evening as they host Oxford United at The Valley.

The Addicks made it clear that their season effectively started at the end of the transfer window and, to be fair, in the matches since they have shown some really promising signs.

Defensively they are looking sound and tonight they'll be looking to make another stride in terms of their progress against an Oxford side who, despite their slow start to the campaign, will be backed by plenty to challenge for the play-offs after they made the final in League One last season.

For the Addicks, Lee Bowyer could well rotate his side once again - he has shown a preference to do so, particularly in midfield, of late - but one man unlikely to be involved is young star Alfie Doughty.

He came off against Northampton and is set to be out for 'some time', whilst Alex Gilbey isn't yet back up to full fitness.

Jason Pearce and Deji Oshilaja remain out, meaning Ryan Inniss and Akin Famewo should be able to build on their burgeoning defensive partnership, whilst Chris Gunter has the recently re-signed Adam Matthews as a challenger down the right.

On the left, Ben Purrington is back from suspension and he'll battle Ian Maatsen for a spot this evening.

Further forwards, Chuks Aneke is likely to sit out but he could be in contention for the weekend's clash with Portsmouth - Lee Bowyer will therefore have to pick from Omar Bogle, Conor Washington and Paul Smyth to lead his line.

It's a far stronger squad than he had a few weeks ago, though, and, as mentioned, a fourth win in a row is at stake for the home side tonight.

They have a positive record against this evening's visitors, too, with them winning 17, drawing 17 and losing 10 against the men in yellow.

Kick-off is at 7pm.
