Sheffield United are expected to welcome Mark Duffy and Billy Sharp back into the starting XI for this weekend’s clash with Leeds United at Bramall Lane.

Chris Wilder opted to leave the attacking duo out against Brentford in midweek, with John Lundstram and Conor Washington stepping into the starting line-up at Griffin Park.

According to Sky Sports, Wilder is likely to recall Duffy into an attacking midfield role, whilst Sharp will lead the line against his former club.

Sharp, who represented Leeds during the 2014/15 campaign, scored three goals in two appearances against the Whites last season, helping Sheffield United do the double over their Yorkshire rivals.

Wilder will also be boosted by the availability of George Baldock, who is in contention after missing the trip to London through illness. It remains to be seen if he comes back into the team ahead of Kieron Freeman.

In the last week, the Blades have picked up four points from two testing away fixtures against Rotherham and Brentford, which has helped them maintain the pace in the Championship’s promotion race.

Leeds are also in the thick of that race, making this weekend’s contest a mouth-watering one.

The Verdict

Wilder wielded the axe on a number of players midweek, but that means Duffy and Sharp will be fresh for this huge Yorkshire derby, which is a real boost.

Sharp’s record against Leeds is very good and he will be looking to add to that this weekend.

Minus Duffy and Sharp, changes to the rest of Wilder’s side are unlikely, with the Blades very good against Brentford.
