Bristol City host Sheffield United this weekend at Ashton Gate as the Championship resumes after a two-week interval.

Lee Johnson’s troops will be aiming to continue their impressive start to the season, having won three and drawing two of their first six fixtures.

The international break came at the wrong time for a Robins side coming off the back of an emphatic 4-1 win over Blackburn Rovers last time out.

Bristol City are once again starting the season well as they did last term before they tailed off towards the end of the season.

Johnson will be hoping that the two-week break hasn’t sapped the club’s form away having won three in a row since the defeat to Middlesbrough in the middle of August.

The break allowed City to rest and recover ahead of the next batch of fixtures, but having said that, there are players that will miss out with this weekend coming too soon.

With that said, here are the Bristol City players who are set to miss the clash with Sheffield United at Ashton Gate this weekend.

Hakeeb Adelakun is out for the foreseeable future and is certain to miss this clash with the Blades this weekend having had ankle surgery.

The winger only joined Bristol City in the summer and is out for 14 weeks while he recovers from the setback and starts his rehabilitation ahead of a come back in the new year.

The 22-year-old will be frustrated that he is missed a chunk of his first season with his new club and game time in the Championship.

The goalkeeper is another absentee who is set to be out for a further six weeks while he recovers from a hip injury sustained in pre-season.

Nikki Maenpaa is set to continue in goal for the Robins in the wake of Fielding’s continued absence.

Fielding had been the number one at Ashton Gate before this injury with the Finnish stopper now ahead of him while he recovers from his injury.

Another long-term absentee, Korey Smith is set to be out for a while having picked up a knee injury in the defeat to Middlesbrough last month.

He has since gone to see a specialist and no time frame has been given for a return date just yet with the midfielder set to be frustrated at missing a chunk of the Robins’ season after they have made such a positive start.
