Derby County and Millwall lock horns in the Championship in the only game from the second tier this evening.

The Rams and the Lions were both in FA Cup action over the weekend, and ironically this was a match re-scheduled due to both sides' involvement in the previous round before progressing.

Frank Lampard’s men fell at the fifth-round stage to Premier League Brighton and will look to get back to league matters with a win this evening.

Derby are outside the top-six by two points, and a win could move them ahead of Bristol City back into sixth to occupy the final play-off place.

Two wins in their last six games is all the Rams have been able to muster having given away a lead to bottom-of-the-table Ipswich Town to draw in the league last time out.

Millwall, meanwhile, progressed to the quarter-final of the cup with a win over Wimbledon last weekend, and will now face the Rams’ conquerors Brighton in the next round.

Neil Harris’ side have not won in the league in five games and have seen themselves drop to just two points above the relegation zone with two games in hand on some of their rivals.

Ahead of tonight’s game at Pride Park, Sky Sports offered some early team news from both camps.

Derby will be without Mason Mount still who will miss the visit of the Lions as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury picked up last month.

Tom Lawrence is a doubt having come back to score against Ipswich before picked up an ankle problem in the draw.

Jack Marriott is available and back in contention, however, having recovered sufficiently from his own ankle injury and a bout of illness.

After his goalscoring exploits in the FA last weekend, Ashley Cole could be handed his first league start under Lampard after signing last month.

Now to the visitors, Tom Elliott is back to full fitness after his cameo in last weekend’s FA Cup tie with Wimbledon.

Conor McLaughlin remains sidelined with a quad injury with Mahlon Romeo continuing in the right-back role.

Ben Thompson, Fred Onyedinma and Ben Marshall will all be welcomed back after being cup-tied this past weekend and could all feature from the start or from the bench.

Tom Bradshaw remains out despite stepping up his comeback from a long-term knee injury.

The verdict

This is a game that both sides need to win, and on paper, it looks as if it is going to be a comfortable Derby win.

Both sides have injuries, but the Rams have ones that affect their team more, and it could hand the Lions the slimmest of advantages.

Harris has already masterminded a win over Lampard’s men earlier in the season, and he will be hoping lightning can strike twice for just his side’s second away win of the season this evening.
