We are edging closer to the start of the 2022/23 Championship season, which gets underway in less than a fortnight.

Stoke City travel to The Den to take on fellow play-off hopefuls Millwall in their curtain-raiser on Saturday 6th August and will want to make a strong start given their top six aspirations.

Things move quickly at this point in the summer and with that in mind, here are the latest Stoke headlines that you might've missed...

Stoke yet to make Connor Taylor decision

Stoke head of football operations Andy Cousins has revealed that the club are yet to make a decision about whether to loan out Connor Taylor for 2022/23 or keep him as part of the squad.

The 20-year-old, who just signed a new long-term deal with the club, spent last season with Bristol Rovers but has been very involved with the Potters in pre-season.

On the topic of Taylor's future, Cousins told the club website that they would prefer to keep him at the Bet365 Stadium but were open to the idea of another loan.

D’Margio Wright-Phillips pens improved deal

Potters winger D’Margio Wright-Phillips has signed an improved deal at the club after his breakthrough 2021/22 campaign.

The 20-year-old remains under contract until 2024 but there now is a club option of an additional year.

Wright-Phillips suggested he was "very happy" to be at Stoke and lauded Michael O’Neill's influence as "like a father figure".

Stoke chase Chelsea winger

Stoke are in the race for Chelsea winger Edwin Andersson, according to The Telegraph's John Percy.

There is understood to be optimism at the Bet365 Stadium that they can agree a deal with the 18-year-old despite interest from elsewhere.

The Sweden U19 international has never played a senior game for Chelsea and is out of contract at the west London club next summer.

Potters set to miss out on Ben Davies

Liverpool centre-back Ben Davies is reportedly set to join Rangers in a £4 million deal, in a blow to Stoke's hopes of signing him.

The Potters had been linked with a move for the defender alongside a host of other Championship clubs but he now looks set to move north of the border instead.

That's according to Sky Sports, who have reported that the Ibrox outfit have agreed a deal with Liverpool.
