Aston Villa were handed a positive injury update on Monday, with footage emerging of Tammy Abraham back in training ahead of their game against Blackburn Rovers this weekend.

There were fears amongst Villa supporters that he could be set for a spell in the treatment room after he withdrew from the England under 21's side last week.

But Abraham revealed on Instagram that he was back in training on Monday, and hilariously mocked team-mate, Keinan Davis as he nutmegged the forward as they went on to score a well worked goal.

Abraham's return to action will be a huge boost for Villa's chances of gaining promotion back into the Premier League this season.

The on-loan Chelsea forward has 21 league goals to his name and will be hoping that he can add to that tally as the season heads towards a conclusion.

But Davis will be hoping that he can put the pressure on Abraham for his starting spot in Dean Smith's squad with just eight league games remaining of their Championship season.

It's going to be a frantic end to the season, with a number of teams challenging Aston Villa for the play-off places, one of which is currently occupied by the Villans.

The Verdict:

Abraham is going to be crucial to their promotion push this season.

His swift return from injury is a huge boost for Dean Smith, and with him in their side, Villa will be one of the most feared teams to come up against heading towards the end of this year's campaign.

Davis will also be hoping to provide the Villa boss with a selection dilemma with some impressive performances before the season is up.
