Aston Villa won out yesterday as they saw off West Brom by two goals to one in their Championship semi-final play-off first leg tie at Villa Park.

Villa came from behind to win the game as goals from Conor Hourihane and Tammy Abraham netted to fire Villa into a crucial lead against their Midlands rivals.

And it was Chelsea loanee Abraham who was singled out for praise following the game by former Wolves star Matt Murray, who spoke to Talksport and had high praise for the young striker.

"But Tammy Abraham, how calm is he?" Murray said.

"You got all the build-up and delay, but he puts the ball on the spot and just strokes it home like it's in training. Sam Johnstone goes the wrong way. Fantastic [from Abraham].

Murray also moved to single out just why this sort of scenario shows that players like Abraham need to be sent out on loan and experience big moments in their development.

Abraham has proved quite the signing for Villa this season, smashing in just shy of 30 goals to build on the impressive form he showed during a previous spell in the Championship with Bristol City.

The Verdict

Abraham has been fantastic and his praise from Murray is well deserved.

It's safe to say he will be the difference between Villa going up and not, and if he can knock in goals in the 2nd leg and then into the final he can prove the man to take them back to the Premier League.
