Sheffield Wednesday have begun talks to try and sign Tyreeq Bakinson from Bristol City, with the player free to leave the Ashton Gate club this summer.

The Owls have been pretty active so far in the transfer window as they look to get themselves in the promotion picture in 22/23, and Darren Moore will be looking forward to seeing what his new-look squad can achieve.

However, he is not done yet in the transfer window by the looks of things, with Bristol Live reporting that talks are underway between the Owls and Bakinson over a potential move from Ashton Gate to Hillsborough.

As per the report, the player has been told by manager Nigel Pearson that he does not have a future with the Robins, and he has been training with the under 23 side in the south west.

Wednesday, then, may feel as though they have a good chance of getting him in.

The Verdict

Bakinson is a good player and one that will certainly feel as though he is capable of aiding Wednesday in their promotion challenge next season should he sign.

He's got lots of quality and just needs to be playing regularly, which does not appear on the cards at Bristol City next season now.

A move could benefit him, then, and heading to Wednesday is a move that would excite plenty of players.
