Since Fosun International completed their purchase of Wolves the club have taken their spending to a new level and have signed several high-profile players for big fees.

Whilst that has seen many observers accuse the Black Country side of buying the league, despite other clubs spending more this summer, the Chinese owners have still placed a lot of importance on bringing through academy players.

Having a strong academy was one of the few things that Steve Morgan deserves credit for at Wolves, with the club boasting category one status and excellent facilities.

And, they are beginning to see the benefits of that with Morgan Gibbs-White.

The talented 18-year old recently signed a long-term deal at the club despite interest from several top-flight sides including Liverpool.

Gibbs-White played a key role for the England U17 side that won the World Cup last year, scoring in the final, and is already impressing Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Portuguese head coach sanctioned the sales of Jack Price and Lee Evans in January as he believes the youngster can already step up to the first-team if needed in central midfield.

The local lad came on as a half-time sub in the recent defeat to Nottingham Forest, where he was one of few to emerge with any credit, whilst also impressing against Swansea in the FA Cup.

With great technique, a change of pace and the ability to pick a pass, Gibbs-White has all the potential to go on to be a real star.

For Wolves, not only do they have a talented player on their books but Gibbs-White also represents much more as the club transforms at a rapid rate.

His inclusion in the senior setup shows all other academy players that there is a pathway to the first team which could be significant in the years to come.
