Fosu has extended his stay at the Royals

The 19-year-old was a target for Premier League sides Newcastle United and Aston Villa as they saw an ideal opportunity to pinch the winger off of the Royals, with a year remaining on his contract at the club.

He made his debut against Derby County on the final day of the season last year as the Royals cruised to a 3-0 victory, and he was very impressive, and staked a fine claim for a first team spot next year and nearly scored at the iPro Stadium.

The Reading academy product looks set to break into the first team next year, and told the Royals official website: "I'm delighted to have signed. Another two years and now I'm looking to kick on from last season and hopefully serve the club well.

"I'm still buzzing now ever since making my first team debut on the last day of the season. It was an unexplainable feeling and I thought I took my chance well. I like to excite the fans. I've just got to do what I do and hopefully they enjoy it.

"I would like to make my mark on the first team this season. But I'll keep my feet on the ground, keep working hard and hopefully I'll get the opportunity."

Reading are rebuilding their squad ahead of next year, and are looking to bring in an influx of players in order to push themselves up the table so that they can push for promotion once more.
