Middlesbrough forward Martin Braithwaite could be set for a exit before the transfer deadline shuts, despite an impressive start to the season for the club.

The Denmark international returned to Boro this summer after spending the latter part of the previous campaign with Bordeaux and has settled immediately back into life in the Championship.

Braithwaite scored for Tony Pulis' men as they salvaged a point at Millwall in their opener on Saturday before following up with a goal in the 3-0 win over Sheffield United last night.

Yet, despite that, he could be leaving Teesside this month, with reporter Graeme Bailey revealing that there is a 'good chance' he will return to Ligue 1.

Any deal to a French side would not have to be completed by tomorrow's 5pm deadline that Boro are restricted to for permanent transfers.

However, Pulis will want to know the situation as from tomorrow night the club will only be able to conclude domestic loan deals until the end of the month.

The Verdict

This is a blow for Boro as Braithwaite is a very talented player and has the potential to star at this level, as he has shown so far this season.

However, if he wants to return to France then it may be best for Boro to move him on, providing they get a fair price.

They will be on the lookout for new arrivals in the next 24 hours and if Pulis gets who he wants then a move for Braithwaite could well be sanctioned.
