It is hard to imagine right now, but back in the summer, Leeds United were not in a particularly good place.

There was plenty of uncertainty surrounding who would take over from Paul Heckingbottom as manager of the club and who would be signed in what looked like a crucial transfer window.

Things started to look up, however, when the club pulled off a real coup in the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa and excitement began to build.

But there was still a desire for new arrivals and at the end of June, they finally got their first man.

This is FLW Rewind, where we take a look back at a big decision made by a club, analyse the initial reaction and document what happened next.

The first body through the door was that of Chelsea loanee Lewis Baker. The midfielder had experienced a mixed time of it during previous loan spells, but he was clearly a talented player.

With the coaching of Bielsa, hopes were high amongst the fans that he could be a roaring success at the club...

Sadly, it never really materialised.

He very much fell victim to the Whites' early success. Going on a lengthy unbeaten run meant that there was very little rotation, and with Baker on the sidelines, he struggled for chances to prove himself.

But when he did get a chance, he failed to stamp his authority. In total, he made 14 appearances under Bielsa but failed to score and only registered one assist in a series of forgettable displays.

It was clear his days were numbered and in January he was recalled by the Blues and sent back out on loan to Reading, who were struggling at the other end of the table to Leeds.

A signing that will no doubt live very shortly in the memory of the Elland Road faithful.
