Charlton Athletic will be hoping that better results are around the corner after the international break after seeing themselves record a win at Fleetwood Town last time out in the league.
The Addicks have had a poor start to proceedings this season and there is clearly work to do but that result against the Cod Army should at least give them a little bit of belief.
We’ll soon see how they get on, then, and in the coming months they still have the opportunity to get up near the right end of the table, before the January window can potentially boost them further.
That said, we’re taking a look at potential scenarios that could play out in SE7 once the next transfer window is open for business…
Deji Elerewe to attract interest?
According to All Nigeria Soccer, Deji Elerewe is picking up plenty of interest at the moment with some Premier League sides taking a look at him.
They report that the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and West Ham United have all been scouting the player and that they were in attendance at The Valley earlier this week as Elerewe played for the Addicks in the 4-1 win over Southampton U21s in the EFL Trophy.
Another bright player coming through at Charlton, perhaps there could be interest in him in earnest in January.
A loan move for Charles Clayden?
The window also gives Charlton and opportunity to give young players a chance to get loan moves to earn experience and that might be a good route for Clayden to go down.
He’s a talented attacker that has plenty of ability but senior football is the only thing that will really help him develop and it looks currently unlikely he is going to be getting loads at Charlton this season.
January, then, might provide a good opportunity for him to get a move away for the second half of the season and get playing at a decent level temporarily.
