‘Take that!’ – Plenty of Northampton Town fans react to recent transfer business

Northampton Town fans had a day to remember yesterday as their pre-season preparations took a sensational turn for the good.

They managed to snare Bury’s Nicky Adams on a free transfer, they paid an undisclosed fee for Shrewsbury keeper Steve Arnold and unveiled Luton Town’s versatile Alan McCormack as their new holding midfielder.

The capture of 35-year-old McCormack is an exciting prospect for Cobblers fans. He played a key role in helping the Hatters out of League Two a couple of seasons back and made League One appearances last season as they stormed to the title.

The former Southend, Swindon and Brentford man penned a one-year deal and although he primarily a holding midfielder, he can play at right back as well.

The Irish midfielder not only won promotion with Luton twice, but helped Swindon out of League Two, Brentford out of League One and has twice been a runner up in the EFL Trophy, with the Robins as well as Southend.

It’s a big statement of intent by Keith Curle, not just with McCormack but the other two signings as well. They’ve had a huge summer so far and hopes are high that they can be one of the sides vying for a top seven spot this season.

Their fans are also incredibly excited by the prospect that lay in wait, as you’ll read below.
