Crewe Alexandra stayed in second place in League Two, following a hard-fought draw at promotion rivals Exeter City on Tuesday evening. 

Just a point separated the two promotion hopefuls going into the game and Exeter moved briefly ahead of their rivals after Tom Parkes put the hosts ahead on the 32nd minute.

Just after the hour mark, however, David Artell's side were back on level terms after Michael Nottingham guided a cross past Lewis Ward from around 10 yards out.

The draw keeps Alexandra in second place, a point ahead of Exeter City and now just three points off league leaders Swindon, as the race for automatic promotion continues to tighten.

Following the draw, it seemed plenty of Crewe fans were pleased with their side's display against another promotion hopeful with many pointing out it was a good point on the road.
