Brentford were expected to make a bold bid for automatic promotion this season following their play off final appearance in the 2019/20 campaign.

Their promotion aspirations faltered at the biggest stage, going down 2-1 to west London rivals Fulham at Wembley thanks to a brace from left-back Joe Bryan.

Many expected a huge exodus from the club due to mass Premier League interest in their playing squad, but as it turned out only two key players ended up departing.

Ollie Watkins made a club-record £28million move to Aston Villa and was replaced by Peterborough's Ivan Toney, whilst Said Benrahma made a loan switch to West Ham United which will be made permanent next summer.

With the firepower at his disposal, Thomas Frank was predicted to guide the Bees to the upper-end of the Championship in the early stages, but it hasn't gone to plan.

They currently sit in 11th place, with just one win in their last six games - their latest stumble coming in a goalless draw with lowly Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park yesterday.

Whilst the league is very even at this early stage, Brentford are already five points off the pace in the race of the play offs, and although things can change very quickly, fans are growing tired of Frank's ways in charge.

Brentford could now probably attract a higher calibre manager due to their natural progression, and it's definitely in the back of the fans' minds as well.

Check out the Twitter reaction to Frank's performance as gaffer yesterday as the Bees fans took out their rage on social media.
