Swindon Town's Jonny Williams is a wanted man on transfer deadline day, with Scottish Premiership outfit Hibernian having a bid rejected for his services, according to Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports.

The Edinburgh outfit are not the only club keen on the 33-cap Wales international though, with unnamed EFL clubs also thought to be weighing up a move for the attacking midfielder before the window slams shut in England at 11pm.

Despite having an initial offer turned down, Hibs are still keen on signing the 29-year-old, per Sky Sports, and it remains to be seen as to whether a follow-up bid will be placed.

Following a brief stint at Cardiff City, Williams dropped into the fourth tier of English football and joined Swindon in 2021 on a two-year contract.

Williams has managed to keep himself fit and available in his time at the County Ground despite his career being plagued by injuries, featuring 45 times in all competitions in 2021-22 and he has played 24 times during the current campaign, scoring eight goals.

The Verdict

With a contract that expires this coming summer, Swindon could potentially be powerless to stop Williams from exiting.

He is vital to their promotion push from League Two with the experience he possesses, and the fact he is showing the best goalscoring form of his career isn't too much of a surprise considering his technical ability.

You would imagine that incoming Town head coach Jody Morris would be extremely keen to work with Williams and even build the team around him and his playmaking abilities in the middle of the park.

But a switch to Hibs, who are a club that get very good attendances and could be battling for a place in European football, could be too tempting to look away from for Williams, so we will wait and see how this one pans out.
