Swindon Town look set to bolster their defensive options by signing Bristol City defender Adam El-Abd on loan, according to the Swindon Advertiser.
The veteran defender has been deemed surplus to requirements at Ashton Gate following the Robins’ promotion into the Championship and the 31-year-old is keen to play regular first-team football.
Swindon are languishing in the bottom half of League One at present and boss Mark Cooper is desperate to see his side climb back up towards the play-off places.
El-Abd went on loan to Bury last season and was instrumental as the Shakers secured promotion into League One for the 2015/16 campaign, playing 24 times for the club.
Interest was high in the player throughout the summer and at one stage it looked as though Bradford City and Bury were interested in taking the player, although no move came off.
Now it looks like Swindon are set to pounce on the player who had two years left to run on his contract with Steve Cotterill’s men.
