Swindon Town have confirmed the signing of former Swansea City defender, Tyler Reid shortly after he left the Championship club.

The right-back only made one senior appearance for the Swans, which came in 2018 in a win over Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.

Reid has also enjoyed a loan spell at Newport County in their 2017/2018 league campaign, but stayed with the Swans for all of last season.

In an interview with Swindon's official website, Reid expressed his eagerness to prove himself at senior level, having only made one first-team appearance for Swansea.

"I can’t wait to get cracking. All I want to do is fight for first-team football. The place looks good and I’m ready for it to be my home.

"The Gaffer has said he wants to give me a chance and I’m ready to take it."

Swindon will be hoping they can make a timely return to League One, having previously struggled in their first spell back in the fourth tier since the 2011/2012 season.

The Verdict:

This is a really good signing by Swindon.

I'm surprised that Reid wasn't given a chance in the Swansea side, and their loss will certainly be Swindon's gain this season.

He has age on his side, and is more than capable of performing to a high standard on a consistent basis in League Two.

It's the best move for both parties here.
