Connor Roberts has already started dreaming about the summer with Swansea fighting for promotion and Wales in the European Championships.

The Swansea full-back has been impressive throughout this current campaign and has managed to help his side battle for a place in the Championship play-offs. Steve Cooper has made them a tough outfit to beat, and with them sitting in 7th place at Christmas, there's a lot of scope to have a very successful season.

For his national side, Roberts played a crucial role in helping Wales qualify for Euros and they'll be hoping to have another successful tournament, like they did in France when they last qualified.

Roberts has already started dreaming about what could be a big summer for himself, but has played down hopes of it all and has insisted that he's not getting carried away.

Speaking to BBC Sport Wales, Roberts said: "Not to dream, but imagine if Swansea get promoted, I go to the Euros and we do well - get out of the group. It could be unbelievable.

"On the other hand all that might not happen. Even then I will still be positive. I will still hopefully get to play in the Euros and play another season for Swansea."

The Verdict

It's okay to dream sometimes, that is what football is all about. Roberts is in a good position to potentially achieve something this season, and he has to make sure that his focus is solely on Swansea until the end of the campaign.

If they were to be promoted it would be an unbelievable effort from new boss Steve Cooper and his backroom staff, and surely go down as one of the great Championship promotion stories.

Roberts is still young and he needs to use his ambition to motivate, not just himself, but his team-mates for the next few crucial months ahead in this campaign.
