It seems incomprehensible now, but if you delve back 15 years in Swansea City's history, you find them outside the play off race in the basement division.

Indeed 14 years ago they won promotion from the basement division by finishing third and set in motion a chain of events that would culminate in them achieving a spot in the Premier League.

Their rise serves as a beacon of hope to all sides in League Two that it is possible, climbing divisions and taking scalps can become a reality. They may have recently suffered relegation, but they've established themselves as a significant player on the big stage in the top two divisions.

Finding truly embarrassing moments during such a rise was not going to be easy, but we've had a dig around and found three moments from the last fifteen years Swansea City fans will surely want to forget.

It was one of the most awkward moments of the Premier League season, the guard of honour Swansea gave Manchester City for winning the league.

The referee joined in and compounded an embarrassing scene that everyone involved in, even Manchester City, would rather just forget.

In January 2011, Swansea hosted Leyton Orient of League One in the FA Cup. It should have been a routine win against lower league opposition.

Instead, Swansea fluffed their lines, losing 2-1 courtesy of an 88th minute own goal. It served as a minor blip on their route to Premier League promotion though.

Five years on and the FA Cup was not Swansea's friend again.

This time they travelled to play League Two side Oxford United. It should have been a routine win for the Premier League big boys.

Instead, a Liam Sercombe penalty and a brace from Kemar Roofe handed them a 3-2 defeat and elimination by a side three divisions below.
