Swansea City and Queens Park Rangers square off this weekend with both sides looking to get back to winning ways.

The Liberty Stadium is the venue for this Saturday’s Championship tussle between the two sides separated by two places in the league.

Three points is the difference with QPR hoping to sit level with their opponents when the weekend is out.

Graham Potter’s men have not won in three matches since their unexpected win over Millwall, drawing twice, including last weekend’s stalemate against Middlesbrough.

Steve McClaren’s men also won against Millwall but fell to defeat against Norwich on the weekend before the midweek cup exit against League One Blackpool.

So both teams will be aiming for the maximin three-point haul come the final whistle in Wales on Saturday afternoon.

Let’s take a closer look at the match-up…

Both sides will set up in a similar style with the base to their formations being a 4-4-2 system.

Potter could alter that to more of a 4-2-2-2 formation should be chosen.

For McClaren’s men, their system sets them up solidly, and with Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells up top, they are starting to form a potent pairing in the final third.

It will be a more direct QPR at times against a Swansea side looking to keep the ball on the deck and pass through their opponents, managing a greater possession average.

This will be evident as the Hoops have won 54 per cent of their aerials duels this season compared to the Swans’ 50 per cent.

But with Swansea keeping the ball on the floor more, they average more dribbles per game than their counterparts this weekend.

The Swans have failed to score in five of their last season matches and have seen under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six home matches against QPR.

There has been under 2.5 goals scored in Swansea’s last three Championship matches too, but they are unbeaten in seven home outings against Saturday’s opponents in all competitions.

So it is set to be a tough afternoon for McClaren’s men.

QPR have only won once in their last six meetings, a 3-0 win at Loftus road in 2012, having only scored six in against the Swans in the previous run of games.

It looks set up to be an intriguing match between the two sides considering their clash of styles.
