Swansea City captain Matt Grimes took to Instagram after yesterday’s win over Cardiff City, as Steve Cooper’s side came out 1-0 victors in the first Welsh derby of the season.

It was a day to remember for Steve Cooper and Swansea fans.

A single goal from Ben Wilmot was the difference at the Liberty Stadium yesterday, as he headed home midway through the first-half.

The win ended a run of one in seven for Swansea, and pulls them back into the play-off places after falling out after last week’s defeat at home to Brentford.

Swansea are now fourth in the Championship - two points off leaders West Brom.

Here’s what skipper Matt Grimes posted on Instagram after the win:

Grimes, 24, has played every minute of Swansea’s Championship campaign so far, establishing himself as an ever-reliable man in the heart of Swansea’s midfield.

He signed for the club in January 2015 when they were a Premier League team, but struggled to break into the first-team.

Loan spells followed with Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United and Northampton Town, until he finally became a first-team regular at Swansea last season.

Grimes will be vital to Cooper and Swansea as they mount an unprecedented promotion push this season.

They won seven of their opening eight games in all competitions this season, and looked like the earliest contenders for the Championship title.

But results soon dropped off and Swansea were left struggling for form.

Cooper will be hoping that the Welsh derby victory over Neil Warnock’s side will be the boost they need to find some momentum, and solidify their spot in the top-six.
