Swansea had a fantastic start to the season, and were flying after they won the majority of their opening fixtures including a hard fought victory at Elland Road over a good Leeds United side.

There was all change over the summer and Steve Cooper came in as manager as he replaced the departing Graham Potter who left to Premier League side Brighton.

It was a topsy turvy time for Swansea, but they managed to get through the back of it and came out a stronger side than what they were before both physically and mentally.

However, the last few weeks it hasn't been plain sailing at all, and on Tuesday night, it seemed to be a combustion of poor performances all put into one as the Swans fell to a 3-0 defeat at home to Brentford.

This followed winless games against Reading, Barnsley and Stoke who are all in the bottom five in the Championship table.

Many supporters and fans have pinpointed a couple of different things that need to be improved, and one of them is the leadership in the squad.

It would obviously be incredibly harsh to change captains midway through a season, but Matt Grimes at this current point is not up to the challenge and isn't getting his team up for games in crucial parts of fixtures.

You can see on the pitch, Mike van der Hoorn, constantly shouting and trying to wake his team-mates up whilst at times Grimes shies away from the confrontation. He's still just 24-years-old, and it can obviously be extremely hard, especially when going through your first bad spell as a captain but he has to be the man to change that for his side and make them believe like they were earlier in the campaign.

If he can do this in the next few weeks then he could stay on, but even a little break from the team for a couple of matches could do the midfielder the world of good as he could come back with a clear and open mind ahead of the next few vitally important months.

It's always going to split opinion when talking about captaincy, but sometimes you can see when someone isn't ready for that amount of leadership.
