Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson could be set to complete a move to Premier League newboys Fulham, according to a report in the Express.

The big defender has been the subject of a host of Premier League interest this summer, with West Ham reportedly leading the way for much of the window, however, it appears now that Slavisa Jokanovic and his board have trumped the the Hammers with a £25m bid for Mawson.

The move will bring an end to one of the longest running transfer sagas of the summer, with Mawson being one of the key men for Swansea last season despite being unable to prevent the Swans from dropping back down into the Championship.

It's already been a busy week for Fulham, who are looking to wrap up a deal for former Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle, and completing a deal for Mawson will be a massive relief for Jokanovic, who must have been concerned about his team's defensive capablities in the top flight.

Mawson signed for the Swans from Barnsley in a £5m deal and went on to immmediately make his mark on the team.

The move for Mawson away from the Liberty raises more questions for Swansea however, with their squad looking wafer thin ahead of their opening game of the season against Sheffield United next weekend.

Swansea fans, what do you think? Good move or bad for the club? Let us know!
