Swansea youngster Ben Cabango has stated that he's ready for an opportunity in the first-team.

Cabango has made the substitute bench on several occasions for the side, but is yet make his Championship debut for Steve Cooper's senior side.

The Swans played three games in the Carabao Cup earlier this season and Cabango started every fixture, and was particularly impressive against Watford as he dealt with Premier League strikers such as Danny Welbeck and Andre Gray.

Cabango has been with the Swans for five years now and will be hoping for an opportunity to showcase his talents in the first-team squad.

Speaking to Swansea's official website, Cabango said: “I’m obviously in a really good position in the team now but it can be frustrating sometimes because I’m not playing a week in a week out, and that’s all I want to do.

"I understand I’m young and we have really good centre-backs here and they all are playing very well as well. I just got to keep working hard, keep myself fit, listen to the gaffer’s advices and hopefully my chance will come soon.

“Hopefully, I can get a few minutes and show that I’m good enough to take that chance as well but, like I said, it’s all about hard work and training, then the chance will come."

The Verdict

He's a very highly-rated youngster who clearly has a big future ahead of him at the Swans. Obviously, it's very hard at the moment to get in at centre-back due to the strength that Swansea are showing in that position.

Joe Rodon picked up an injury in October and Cooper picked Ben Wilmot as his replacement. Since then, Wilmot has done brilliantly and even scored some crucial goals against rivals Cardiff and the late equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday.

Cabango just needs to wait for his chance and it'll come, as a youngster patience is so important as you don't want to be frustrated waiting otherwise you'll end up messing up the opportunity that you're going to get. He'll have a chance this season, but he has to make sure he takes it.
