Swansea City could be set to make another move for a striker as they seek replacements for the goals lost through the sale of Oli McBurnie.

The big striker joined Sheffield United in mid-week and the Swans reacted by bringing in Swedish winger Kristoffer Peterson from Heracles.

However, according to Alan Nixon, the Swans are still keen on signing more attacking players, and could now target a move for Birmingham City striker Isaac Vassell.

Vassell has struggled for goals and fitness during his time at St Andrews but could well fit the profile for Swans manager Steve Cooper, who will see Vassell's pace and power as something he can work with in the hope of the goals flowing if he gets a regular run of games.

McBurnie's sale leaves a gaping void in the Swansea line-up of over 20 goals a season which Cooper will know he has to make an effort to fill, and despite Luton being keen on Vassell as well, Swansea will be confident of outspending the Hatters to land Vassell if needed.

Vassell starred previously for Luton but could well be keen on a move to the Swans as he looks to kickstart his career at pastures new.

The Verdict

Vassell is hardly a name which will get Swansea fans' hearts racing with excitement, but there is a player with potential in there.

At 25 he has plenty of time to improve further and start knocking in the goals at Championship level, and it might be a case of just finding the right club and manager.

He's got all the attributes, but whether he can fill the void left by McBurnie remains a massive question.
