The Welsh side are eager to add more defensive cover to their side before the start of the season, following the departure of Ben Davies to Tottenham.

Byram, 20, is thought to be high on Brendan Rodgers transfer wishlist as he prepares for the upcoming Premier League campaign, however Garry Monk is keeping tabs on the situation of the Thurrock born defender.

Byram has spent his whole career at the Elland Road outfit, accumulating 69 appearances for the club, also scoring three goals.

The young full-back has been the subject of interest from an array of clubs, with Southampton and West Bromwich Albion holding a firm interest last January.
