Kalvin Phillips was the hero for Leeds United on Saturday, with his late, late header helping the Whites to a point against Middlesbrough.

Leeds trailed Boro 1-0 heading into 12 minutes of injury time, but Phillips’ goal in the 101st minute rescued Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Now, the 23-year-old has been discussing what’s motivating Leeds this season, telling the Yorkshire Evening Post that Bielsa’s side are looking to prove people wrong: “You want to prove a lot of people wrong.

“There's a lot of stuff said and obviously people don't like us but it kind of motivates us to basically make a point to people and say we’re the best team in the league.

“You want to be top and be the best team in the league and with the way we’ve been playing, I think we are the best team in this league. We’ve just had a few bad results recently.”

Over the course of the season Leeds have managed to maintain the pace at the top of the Championship, but Norwich City are now starting to take hold of the division’s promotion race.

Others, like Boro, West Brom and Sheffield United, are bang in contention, however, Leeds now have back-to-back fixtures at Elland Road against Swansea and Bolton, giving Bielsa’s men a good chance to showcase their credentials.

That’s something supporters looked at when responding to Phillips’ comments, whilst others showed their love for the midfield man…
