Swansea City don’t need to bring in fresh faces in the January transfer window according to captain, Leroy Fer.

Graham Potter’s side are still adapting to life back in the Sky Bet Championship after dropping out of the top-tier last season, but a push for the play-offs isn’t out of question given the tight nature of the Championship.

Three straight defeats have meant Swansea have fallen behind a number of play-off contenders, with many looking towards January as an opportunity for clubs like Swansea to strengthen.

However, Fer has shared his thoughts on the winter window, admitting changes might not be a good thing.

"I think we have a very good and talented team," Fer told the BBC.

"So for me personally no (we don't need new signings in January) but you don't know what other people think.

"If you want to build you don't need someone new.”

The Swans’ recent defeats have come against promotion contenders, with Norwich City, West Brom and Derby all getting the better of Potter’s side in the last week.

Potter will be looking for a reaction next time out, with the Swans going up against Brentford, who have endured a dip in form themselves in recent weeks following Dean Smith’s departure.

Following that, Swansea face Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City in the build-up to Christmas.

The Verdict

Results have been poor in the last week and probably highlighted that Swansea aren’t at the level of the Championship’s top sides.

Of course, January additions could mean that Swansea can reach that level, which mean Fer’s comments might surprise some.

However, he’s the club’s captain and will know the quality that Potter’s squad have. He will also want to keep morale high after a tough week.
