Swansea City manager Graham Potter says he remains wary of the threat possessed by Stoke City despite their poor start to the season.

Gary Rowett's side have won just once so far this season, beating Hull City 2-0 at the bet365 Stadium, but they have not won in two games since.

They lost 2-1 away to West Brom, before throwing away a two-goal lead away to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. But, Potter remains aware of the threat they possess.

"I think it’s probably fair to say they have taken a few weeks to adjust and that can happen when you are relegated from the Premier League,” Potter told the Swansea official website.

“But Stoke have got good players and an intelligent, talented manager who knows what’s required to win games in the Championship.

“They are on the right path in terms of improving and we hope we can slow that improvement tomorrow night.”

Potter will also be returning to the club he played for professionally for three years on Tuesday night, with the Swansea boss racking up 45 league appearances from right-back for the Potters between 1993-96.

His Swans side have experienced a much better start to life back in the Championship than Stoke, with the Welsh club currently sat in sixth place.

They are also unbeaten in all of their away games as well, so will be no pushovers at all for an expensively assembled Stoke side.

The Verdict

It would be daft and worrying if Potter had become dismissive of Stoke's chances just because of their sub-par start to the season.

They still possess some of the division's best players, especially in the form of Joe Allen and Tom Ince, so are certainly very capable of hurting the Swans.
