Swansea fans will surely be starting to doubt their team’s credentials after recent display

Swansea City fell out of the top-six with their 2-1 defeat at home to Fulham in the Championship on Friday night.

A first-half brace from Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic gave them their fourth-straight win but for Swansea, a fourth-straight game without one has seen them tumble out of the play-off places.

It’s been a somewhat frustrating season to be a Swansea fan. They started the campaign on fire under their new manager and having won seven of their opening eight in all competitions, looked to be the earliest contenders for promotion.

But form quickly slowed down and having gone win-less through the whole of September, the Swans looked to be reaching their best form again with wins over Cardiff and Wigan at the start of last month.

Back-to-back wins had thrown them right into contention again but now without a win in four, Swansea are once again left scratching their heads as to where their form’s gone.

As a fan, it must be hugely frustrating to watch Swansea. Even against Fulham, they had their chances to score more than they did and they probably played well enough to warrant at least a point.

But two lapses in concentration was all it took for Mitrovic to score twice and win it for the visiting side – the Serb has now scored 24 in 24 for club and country this season.

The club changed its name from Swansea Town to Swansea City in 1969. True or false?

Swansea showed they have the players to deal damage to teams like Fulham but were once again undone by their own downfalls, and it’s hard to see them breaching the play-offs again this season with Brentford coming good, and Cardiff behind them looking resurgent under Neil Harris.

It’s easy to forget though that this is Cooper’s first season in first-team management and expectations going into it were fairly low.

But having seen what they’re capable of this season to now seeing them unable to win a game, it’ll still anger fans. All they can do is keep on getting behind their side and they’ll need it at the weekend, as they travel to league leaders West Brom.
